STENA LINE - Low Sulphur Surcharge
On 1 July 2010 the new IMO regulations (International Maritime Organisation) will go into effect limiting the amount of sulphur in the bunker fuel oil used within the so called ECA (Emission Control Area). This means that we will reduce the amount of sulphur from 1.5% to 1% in the fuel oil used while at open sea. This cleaner oil commands a higher price, for which we must be compensated.
Traffic Area Scandinavia
On 1 January 2010 an extra charge of SEK 1.28 per lanemeter was instituted to compensate us for the sulphur limit of 0.1% while in port. This together with the extra charge goint into effect on 1 July 2010 will become one Low Sulphur Surcharge, as follows:

Varberg-Grenaa SEK 1.40 EUR 0.15 per lanemeter and part thereof
Oslo-Frederikshavn
Göteborg-Kiel
Karlskrona-Gdynia
Göteborg-Travemünde SEK 2.30 EUR 0.24 per lanemeter and part thereof
The Low Sulphur Surcharge will be revised monthly.
